hello lads,newbie here thanks to trevor via another site.
abit about me english fella living in ireland,some 10 years.
always been in to fishing but only trying to get biggies the last 12 months or so,little success.ireland is not the greatest place for coarse fishing but thats another story,a few spots for carp but not many in this (wexford) area.
also in to footy CHELSEA so get the jibes in now.tight lines

River conditions...?

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone has fished the rivers over the weekend? I'm looking to go on either the Ouse at Stone Park/Whitings or the Ousel for some big roach early this week. As I live in Luton I don't get to see the river first hand on a daily basis and wondered what all this recent rain has done to them? Are they bombing along? Is the Ousel a better bet than the Ouse? I hoped that if they are carrying extra colour but not up too high they could be worth a shot. Any pointers gratefully received.

Hi Guys

I attend mkcollege where i'm taking the national diploma fast track in business management.

In a week or so one of my assignments is to produce a business report, a newspaper article and give a filmed presentation. The scenario is to pitch to an investor the virtues of MK, especially the population growth rates, in the hope of them opening a branch of their business here.

You can choose any business/sector to pitch too, and its been recommended you choose one your somewhat familiar with.

I want to pitch for a larger tackle shop in the city that is more central, for people like me on my bike. It is entirely theoretical, but i want to base it on integration into the cities communities. Namely our great club.

In short I'm looking for anyone to help me with facts and figures about mkaa's membership numbers? or if anyone knows where i can obtain rod licenses sales figures that would be great. Any qualitative (psychological) quantitative (numerate) figures relating to the UK fishing industry really.

The main point I'm looking to argue is that fishing in MK is not strictly a niche market, and the market can be developed due to the growing population that is relatively new to the area. I think if we have a sno-dome for skiing we can have somewhere like, the old sainsburys opened up to cater for bivvys and the like.

Would anyone else agree that it's likely the majority of money on tackle etc is spent on-line in MK? That's the revenue i'll be presenting to target.

I'm picking through a lot of pages as you do on-line but to credit a reputable source like the MKAA will be a good advantage to my presentation.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or help. To be honest it doesn't really matter if the business proposal is likely to be a roaring success. Its more about including the right elements of the three formats.

There were seven of them on the concrete outflow on Furzton this morning, preening their wings, as well as a couple on the raft in the little lake under the bridge, and another diving away at the West end of the main lake.

Also many plastic bags of dog exc... dumped by the way, and hung on bushes, or thrown onthe path.
If you clap your hands and get aggressive, they clear off, hopefully for good. I believe they can also be shot if you apply for a licence from the Ministry.

I see also small Barbel have been introduced to Adams Mill. I do hope that these fish do not become another Carp fetish that exists on other waters, but I feel I may be too late.

How about introducing some Dace or Chub, or even Rudd, I believe the latter were intoduced into Willen in the early 1980's?

I also remember, Perch, in Willen got most aggressive at the same time, lured by spinners and spoons.
